Included below are different organizations our focus group selected around the University of Michigan and Ann Arbor community. The demographics these organizations look to serve, as well as their missions, and modes of activism differ; but, are all united by a common goal in protecting and furthering racial, financial and/or cultural equity.

STARS
STARS is a law school student organization dedicated to race relations within the law school. It was created as an intersectional group welcoming students from all different racial backgrounds. This group appreciates and welcomes intersectionality and diverse viewpoints, as other identities that we hold impact racial issues at the law school.

1st Generation Engineers
1st Generation Engineers aims to make the first generation identity more visible and provide support for the unique challenges that students may face within the College of Engineering. Their mission is to foster a sense of community of scholars with similar backgrounds to promote overcoming first generation student barriers at the University of Michigan.

Advocates for Diversity in Engineering
The mission of the Advocates for Diversity in Engineering (ADE) is to expose students in engineering, of every background, to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts put forth by the DEI Strategic Plan. Its main goals are to collect, create, implement, and advocate for inclusive initiatives in student org spaces.

The American Civil Liberties Union
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is a national organization that works to protect civil liberties in the United States. The Undergraduate Chapter here at the University of Michigan works to further this goal through activism and education here on campus.

BIPOC Peer-Led Support Group
PLSG is a partnership between the Sexual Assault Prevention and Awareness Center and the Office of Multi-Ethnic Student Affairs. It is a confidential support group for survivors of color who have experienced sexual assault, intimate partner violence, stalking, and/or sexual harassment. It is a place to find not only community, but healing opportunities.

Bright Financial Futures
BFF was established with the mission of expanding the access to financial literacy education in the Ann Arbor community. It fosters this mission by offering a free program for elementary through high school-aged economically disadvantaged students that teaches the fundamental principles of financial literacy.
